So how do you use this site?

Hand_on_mouse

Well, there are probably as many answers to that question as there are postrangers. But some of those commenting on this blog have asked:

  • What kind of content are you looking for?
  • Can you ad a stream, say, on video games?
  • If I want to review a product, how can I get a sample?
  • First, the best way to explain what we’re looking for in the way of posts is to say that PostRanger.com’s content will be defined by its users.

We feel the best person to make decisions about what belongs in this network is you. For a “Retro 50’s” stream, you might write about a classic car show in your home town, a favorite web site you found for retro clothing, a neat new twist on a retro theme like 50’s diners or an interview with an Elvis impersonator.

To get some ideas, set up a Google news alert on your e-mail using the topic you’ve chosen to write about and watch to see what comes up.

If you post on an existing article be sure to credit the author and link directly to the piece. Use quotes whenever using exact wording and don’t plagiarize. Be clear about your sources.

If you visit an event and gather information yourself take some photos as well if you have a digital camera and upload them with the post.

If you don’t see a topic that interests you, by all means send us an e-mail and suggest one. We’ll send you an invitation so that you can make the first post.

Want to know how to get products for review? First, review some products you already have, write about new products based on news releases posted on company websites (again always attributing your source). These will be more news than review, but once you’ve got some under your belt you’ll be able to approach companies yourself for free samples to review.

Remember to always follow through if you say you’ll write about something. Develop a good relationship with companies for fair and honest reviews and you’ll find yourself on mailing lists.

Finally, PostRanger.com is a place for self-expression but please be responsible.

DO NOT copy another’s work without attribution. DO NOT make comments that would be considered libel by damaging another’s reputation. DO NOT engage in hate speech by degrading someone else’s religion, race or sexual orientation. DO NOT use copyrighted photos or other materials without permission. FEEL FREE to express your opinion and individuality.

Have fun!

Hello fellow Earthlings!

Horizontal_earth_4

Welcome to the launch of PostRanger.com.

The new blogging and social network was designed as a place for guest posters to create compelling content on an ever growing number of topics or “streams” and a place for readers to come, explore, comment and perhaps create content of their own.

The network has been under construction since mid-August and invitation e-mails began flying at a fast and furious pace over the past week in an effort to attract guest posters that could get us started right.

Here are some things we’d like to accomplish with the new network:

  • Give bloggers and webmasters the opportunity to grow traffic and page ranking by creating guest posts with back links to their own sites

  • Expose readers to new bloggers, websites, voices and content on a regular basis and give them the ability to create their own

  • Provide those new to the Internet lacking any blog or website of their own with the tools to create meaningful and compelling content and perhaps give them the confidence and the audience to expand their on line endeavors

  • Create a vibrant and global community of bloggers, other content producers and readers whose interaction fulfills the democratic promise of the new on line media.
